I've been wanting a Serger for a while now just was never able to get one or totally forgot to get one. So when my twin asked me what I wanted for Christmas I immediately sent her an Amazon link for a Brother 1034D Serger. It's not "Top of the Line" but it's not at the bottom either. I read many great reviews about this machine, so yeah, that's what I wanted. I was so excited the day it arrived to the house! I walked in after arriving from work and "Lo & Behold" there the box was sitting on the kitchen counter! I was stoked and got goosebumps! Do any of yall get goosebumps when you get a new machine or "toy"?
I watched the 2 included dvd's and practiced a bit as the dvd's said and then got straight to work. Re-threading was a bit confusing because the lighting in my makeshift sewing space wouldn't allow me to differentiate between the blue & green lines inside the threading panel so I grabbed my laptop and watched the video as I was re-threading. I mainly wanted the machine to do 4 thread serging to finish seams and to do minky washcloths which I haven't done yet.
So far I have serged (5) 18" Valentine's pillow covers for my twin (post coming soon) and right now I'm working on serging Valentine's Day gift bags, also for my twin. (post coming soon)
SO HERE IS MY NEW BROTHER 1034D SERGER MACHINE THAT I HAVE DUBBED "SERGIO"!
MY SEWING MACHINE THAT I'VE HAD FOR ABOUT 9 YEARS NOW IS A HUSKYSTAR 224 AND I HAVE DUBBED HER "STAR".
DO ANY OF YALL HAVE NAMES FOR YOUR MACHINES? IF SO, LET US KNOW IN A COMMENT BELOW.
My best friend calls her Bernina Su-nina because, well, I'm her best friend! I don't name mine. It's the Viking or the Featherweight or the Bernina, etc. =) Congratulations on becoming a serger owner. That's one nice sister you have.
