Dubai Bedouin Museum in Old Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) - LONG POST OF 108 PICTURES

These are LONG overdue.  This was a really great museum that we went to in Old Dubai, UAE.  UAE is short for United Arab Emirates for those that didn't already know.  We were there from March 9-13th of this year.  In this post you will see many re-enacted scenes with Wax figures.

OUTSIDE OF MUSEUM, THE ABOVE GROUND PART WAS A FORT

MOSQUE ACROSS THE STREET

DUBAI HAS THESE LOVELY FLORAL PAINTED TRASH CANS ALL OVER THE CITY

FRONT ENTRANCE & CANON

THIS WAS ACROSS THE STREET.  I THINK IT'S GOVERNMENT PROPERTY.

OUTSIDE OF THE FORT MUSEUM.  THE STICK LOOKING THING ON THE UPPER LEFT WAS TO DRAIN WATER.  THE SQUARE WINDOWS IN THE UPPER RIGHT WERE TO SHOOT OUT FROM.

INSIDE THE FRONT DOOR, NOTICE THE HUGE SPIKES?

OLD DAGGERS, SPEAR HEADS AND AX FOUND IN THE GROUND

THIS IS AN AL-MANAMA, WHICH IS A BED FOR SLEEPING OUTSIDE IN THE SUMMER

TOURISTS LOOKING DOWN THE WELL IN THE COURTYARD

BED INSIDE THE MAIN PART OF THE LIVING QUARTERS

THE BOTTOM OF A WINDTUNNEL INSIDE THE TENT, WHICH IS THEIR VERSION OF AN AIR CONDITIONER.  IT CATCHES THE WIND, BRINGS IT DOWN INTO THE TENT AND CIRCULATES IT TO MAKE THE TENT COOL IN THE SUMMER, WARM IN THE WINTER.

2 HANDWOVEN ROUND RUGS PLACED ON THE WALL

THIS IS SOME INFORMATION YOU CAN READ ABOUT THE TYPES OF HOUSES IN THE DESSERT.

THIS MIGHT BE AN AREA CLOSE TO THE WATER, WHERE THEY ARE LOADING AND UNLOADING THINGS.

TRANSPORTING THINGS ON BOATS.  THE WAX MAN IS WEARING A WAIST WRAP AND A KUFI WHICH IS THE HAT, PRONOUNCED "KOOFEE".

TYPICAL BEDOUIN COUPLE

BEDOUIN JEWELRY WAS TYPICALLY MADE FROM BRASS AND WAS VERY HEAVY.  THIS WAS USUALLY GIVEN AS A BRIDAL GIFT FROM A GROOM TO HIS NEW BRIDE.  JEWELRY WAS A STATUS SYMBOL AND A WAY TO SHOW YOUR WEALTH.  SAME STILL APPLIES TODAY.
