ReplyDeleteYes, I have a vintage sewing machine, but it is at my mother's right now...it is a Singer, that much I know. The case is dk. green and white.
ReplyDeleteI have four vintage sewing machines. 3 are featherweights and one is a treadle sewing machine that has a box cover to it. All are Singers.
ReplyDeleteI gave an older model Singer sewing machine to a student heading for Univesity. She wanted to learn how to quilt but didn't have a machine. This particular Singer is similar to the ones we learned to sew on in Home Ec class (it even has the picture of how to thread the machine!!!)

ReplyDeleteI have my MIL's sewings machine and her mother's sewing machine. I am guessing my MIL's is from the '70s, and the other one is from the late 50's. I have never owned a brand new machine.

I do have vintage machines! 2 Featherweights (black and white/green) and a tan 301. Also, one of the first Kenmore portables (which weighs a ton!) and a Singer 66. I'm looking for a handcrank and someday I want a treadle.

A couple years ago, I went to an auction and bought an antique treadle machine in a cabinet, determined to fix it up and use it. Forgetting, of course, that I don't possess the fix-it gene. And not realizing that it weighed three tons. So, I have an antique treadle machine that doesn't work that currently sits in my son's room (used to be my sewing room and the thing is just too darned heavy to move about) and currently home to his musical instruments collection. Good itpntentions and all. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteAnd I receive the emails about the giveaways.

ReplyDeleteMy machine is about 50 years old but I don't think you can call it vintage! in this part of the world old sewing machines are very much the norm.

ReplyDeleteI have 2 vintage machines, 2 more modern machines. My second sewing machine I got on ebay. It was a Kenmore in this awesome cabinet. It was made to look like a chest of drawers...sneaky! It's a from the 60's or 70's and it's like a pretty gunmetal color for the machine. I wish I knew if this was something that someone made to fit the Kenmore or if it was sold that way. I can't find any information about it online. If I ever found another one I'd buy it. It was broken upon shipment. The cabinet and chair were fine but the sewing machine snapped from the thing that keeps it attached to the table part. It is so awesome. I wish I could repair it. I could never bare to get rid of it. It's still a neat piece.
ReplyDeleteThe other I have is a Singer. Not sure of the year but it's metal and a pistachio green color. It has cams for the different stitch functions.
I don't have a vintage machine, but at one time I did have my aunt's old treadle sewing machine.

ReplyDeleteI have 3 vintage machines, and the kool thing is that the have been in the family for 3 generations. I have a beautiful black Singer 301 in it original case. It belonged to my mother and she passed it down to me. I also have a Singer 401 that was given to my mother by her mother and then to me.
ReplyDeleteI also have a kenmore 1200 that is not a pretty as the singers, nor really as reliable, but it is an old beauty just the same.
I love these old machines and keep them running well. They are so much easier to maintain, than my new pfaff.
Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI guess you could call it vintage. I have a Sears Kenmore machine that I bought new in 1981. I used it up until I got my new Babylock last year. I still have it and use it once in a while when making bags because it will sew through anything. Her name is Mabel and she has served me well. My new machine Grace gets jealous if I use Mabel too often. And then I have a twenty year old serger named Fred.
