Hey Yall,
The day before Thanksgiving I bought myself some new sewing goodies. I hardly ever buy myself anything new but since my twin commissioned me to make her a Christmas throw quilt, I felt that warranted some new & upgraded stuff and I wanted to share! I also needed a hard surface to support my cutting mat so I went to Lowe's and got a 2'x4' board of I think he called it pressedwood. Its almost 1 inch thick. So I had him cut it in half so that they would be bigger than my new cutting mat. I didn't take a picture because I felt it was nothing worth taking a picture of. But I do love my boards and they make cutting so much easier. The past couple of days I stacked them on top of one another to raise my cutting mat up a bit higher.
The rotary cutter is made with the new Titanium 45mm blades. The package says it's preferred by Quilters and 3 times as strong and more durable. I LOVE MY NEW ROTARY CUTTER! My old cutter was hurting my hands. I also bought some clear rubber gripper dots to put under my new cutting ruler because my old one kept sliding and my cuts were not precise. I have the rubber dots in each corner and every 4 inches at the edges. Let me tell you, these grippers make a world of difference! My ruler is not sliding! I chose this new cutting mat for the colors and the size.
My cat Antar was pawing at my ruler when I was trying to take a picture, as seen above.
This may be a stupid question.. but is there a quilty reason or just an aesthetic reason that the cutting board has two pretty colors?
ReplyDeleteHey Mommarock! Great Question! It's just for looks. There was another one that was the same color on both sides for $1 cheaper but I got this one because of the pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm sure you will have lots of great times with your new toys.
ReplyDeleteGreat new toys! I have a mat that is yellow on one side and green on the other.....I like your colors better :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Enjoy your new toys!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad to hear you like your new rotary and titanium blades. I certainly like mine. I should probably get rid of my old rotary cutters, but I've put some in misc project bags so I always make sure I have one with me when I go someplace. Still, I think that is a bad excuse and I need to find a home for them (my sewing room doesn't have much room to store things I don't use).
