My Trip Today to Wish Upon a Quilt in Raleigh, NC

Today I went to Wish Upon a Quilt for the first time because I needed some Synthrapol and they were the ONLY shop in the entire RDU (Raleigh/Durham) area that had some in stock.  Lo and Behold when I got there they were saving the very last bottle for me, just because I had called yesterday asking about it (WASN'T THAT SWEET OF THEM!).  Being that I had never been in there before I decided to take a look around before checking out.

They ladies were super nice and they all seemed to be having fun while working.  The customers were talking up a storm with the employees.  It was very inviting and relaxed.  I've been to a few quilt shops and this was the best experience I have ever had in one!  When I checked out I asked if I could take pictures for my quilt blog.  Their response, "Sure!"

On the checkout counter they had these cute little polka dotted embroidery scissors/thread nippers in pink, green & aqua.  I was really diggin' the green so had to get one of those because my old nippers needed to be upgraded.  While looking around at all the goodies, I came across some really cool looking rubber thimbles with little daisy like flowers on them.  I got the small in Royal Blue, though it's not in the picture below.  I needed a rubber thimble for my new found love of finishing the quilt binding by hand!

Now, I have gone in several quilt shops that have drab looking fabrics, lots of batiks, lots of dark fabrics, nothing new/funky/modern/vibrant.  Wish Upon a Quilt is TOTALLY the Opposite!  They have so many New & Modern fabrics including the NEW Dr. Seuss's Lorax fabrics.  I even saw some of the Me & My Sister fabrics and I was so tempted to buy them but I truly hadn't planned on buying new thread nippers and thimble so I refrained (FOR NOW).  They had lots of tubs of individual FQ's and I wish I had taken a picture, but I didn't think about it at the time.  The tubs were jam packed full of bright and modern fabrics.

They offer classes of all kinds for all skill levels.  Everything they have in the shop is listed on their website so you can go shopping conveniently.  You can even sign up for a newsletter that has lots of info, coupons, specials/sales, and a FREE Pattern.  They even have a monthly giveaway that you can enter to win!  Right now up for grabs is a $25 gift certificate!  You know, me.............I love giveaways and who doesn't love FREE FABRIC!  So stop on over to their site and enter.............Easy Peasy!

LET'S SEE WHAT THE SHOP LOOKS LIKE INSIDE:

So the next time you are in Raleigh, especially the North Raleigh area by 540 & Brier Creek, stop into Wish Upon a Quilt and check out all their goodies!  You WON'T be disappointed!

  4. I go to Wish all the time and yes, they are as friendly the 200th time I go as they were the first time I went. Such a big variety of colors that it would be hard not to find something you want/need. The staff is always super friendly, helpful and love seeing projects you bring for show, as well as, help on completion (if necessary). Prices are also better than other shops in the area. You can't go wrong by visiting.
