  1. My first day in HS, I was sent to one homeroom. The teacher there told me I wasn't on his list and that I must be in the other homeroom. So, I went upstairs to what I thought was my correct homeroom. Unfortunately, the doorway had one of those metal bars connecting the carpet in the homeroom to the tile in the hall. I stepped solidly on the metal in my brand new patent leather (uniform) dress shoes. You know, the kind with no traction.
And, then...I slid...like banana peel in a cartoon slide. I fell, my uniform skirt over my head. After I peeled myself off the floor and the laughter stopped, that second homeroom teacher informed me that I went to the correct place the first time. *sigh* I trudged back downstairs to my original homeroom, now thoroughly beet red after flashing my underwear to half the freshman class.

  2. My most memorable High School moment was my senior prom. There is nothing like getting all fixed up and made to feel like a true princess. I think that I glowed all night long:)

  3. I think I was pretty middle of the road in high school. Good times and the lowest of lows. I'll never forget the morning I knew the drill team was taking the new girls to breakfast and I wasn't picked!I cried loads. Then 2 weeks later I was awakened and taken to breakfast. I had made the team. Of course I was on the 2nd choice list but at least I had the grades to make the group and stay on it. I had a wonderful year and thoroughly enjoyed my 2nd chance.

  4. One of my favorite memories is a 15 year old boy (now my husband) asking me to be his girlfriend during gym class. I LOVE having so many memories that include him :)

  7. I suppose my most memorable high school moment was the first day. It was so daunting leaving primary school as the eldest students to being the babies in high school. Here in Australia you are about 12 years old when you start high school. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  9. I was in year 9 when some senior (males in years 11 and 12) friends of mine finally became tired of an aggressive English teacher we all had to put up with. The man drove a 1966 Mini Minor sedan so just before the final bell rang for the end of the school one day they snuck down to the carpark, lifted his car and placed it between 4 round metal posts that were set in a rectangle and marked a drop off point for school supplies. It fit inside perfectly and the rage he was in when he saw it was memorable. The road service had to hire a crane to lift it out! There were 1200 children at my high school and they never found out who did it as we all disliked him equally. He was asked to leave the following year.

  10. i remember the last day after our board exams when a group of girls from our class went 'home hopping'. we dropped in everyone's house and had a nice time. Had a sumptuous lunch in one of the friends' house. But unfortunately the happy day had a sad ending. we all were on our cycles and one of my friend put her leg in the wheel and she had a nasty cut....This incident is certainly an unforgettable event in my school days.

  11. Wow high school was along time ago! I think the best time I had were going to football games with my boyfriend, he was the firstone I had ever had and he was 2 years ahead of me in school. He had his own car, and I was not even old enough to drive! We had great times, till my parents found out about him.
    Cool giveaway Thanks so much!

  12. My favorite memory of high school would have to be graduation day. I am not too proud of much of my behavior during high school and I wasn't so sure graduation was going to happen. To be completely honest one of my teachers simply did not want me back! So when I finally walked across that stage....well the Lord was smiling or sighing for sure! If you would have told my parents on that day that I would eventually get my Bachelors they would have horse laughed you...but it did happen...many years later! I simply needed to grow up ...and hard knocks took care of that quite quickly!

  13. I was head of the grad committee, which at that time I thought was pretty special. I had been the quiet girl through most of my school years so this was a big step.

  16. High school was a lifetime ago. I could say that the last day was the most memorable but that probably isn't true. In 1975 i was living in Texas for short time visiting my grandmother who lived there for 6 months of the year and visited and sat in classes at a high school in San Antonio. A culture shock for a 14 year old from country Australia. I was asked if kangaroos hop down the streets of cities but back then Australia was a bit exotic and unknown. but ak

  21. So many great HS memories. The best has to be my sweet 16 party. It was way over the top for the late 70s. I planned the whole thing including the big sub, hat was in the shape of a 16. Lots of my friends copied that. We danced all night. Another fun time was all the parties I went to and I got a new dress for each one.

  23. I had a civics class in high school where we were learning about civil disobedience. When it came time for the test on that subject some of us got an idea. The class was graded on a curve where the top score was made to be 100%. We decided that if nobody answered ANY of the questions we would all get zeroes which would be the top score and therefore 100%. Now, I was a good student and NOT disobedient in any way, so this was really risky in my mind. But since the topic was civil disobedience it did seem appropriate. So we all agreed to do it. On test day I was beyond nervous. What if one person decided to answer the questions? As it turned out everybody went along and left their papers blank so we all got 100%. We also got a stern warning to never pull that again or we would all get zeroes!

  24. My most memorable high school moment is different than most. I was homeschooled so my moments don't revolve around friends and school. My most memorable moment was in my senior year moving from CA to FL. I did not want to leave my home of 9 years. Looking back it was the move of my life because I met my now husband at our new church in FL.
Probably one of the funnest moments was when I was working drive thru and 2 old men tried to pull me out of the drive thru window. I still remember the threat I gave them. "My dad is Air Force and my boyfriend is a Marine. If you mess with me they will send every soldier they know after you."

  28. There are so many. But I can tell that two weeks ago we had the first reunion party of the high school, most came from abroad. I havent's seen them since 1989, when we graduated. Have had some contact the last years through FB, but seeing them anf hugging them was just so good. We were around 80, so many pictures were taken, so much to talk about. The best was that it felt that we had seen each other recently even though 22 years have passed!

  30. My most memorable High school moment was getting kicked out of math class for laughing.. I was laughing at the fact that I was laughing at nothing, and couldn't stop laughing.. it was rediculous. My teacher got so mad at me.. and kicked me out of class for the day. I was a very good student. I just started laughing and couldn't stop.. so silly. But, I still remember it!

  31. My favorite memory really ages me. I was in "Secretarial Science" program and our typing (with typewriters mind you) teacher had a contest for the fastest typist. I won at a whopping 99 words a minute. I loved the IBM Selectrics, I think they're antiques now!

  32. It was probably the night before graduation - I went to a Catholic school so we had mass the night before, and a really good friend of the family (18 years my senior) was running late to mass and we had already started the procession into the chapel. He ran up to me gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and then headed into the church. Just about every girl I went to school with thought I was having an affair with someone in their late 30's. All I could do was laugh because he was a brother to me. It did create a last impression in a lot of people's minds though :) - My friend and I still laugh about it too!

  34. best high school memory - Freshman year french class. We hated our french teacher, so one of the girls decided to try and pull one over on her. She hid under the teacher's desk and was going to surprise her when she sat down. The teacher never noticed she was gone and she chickened out. So she was stuck under the desk the entire class period.

  35. I will never forget the time my boyfriend yelled "I LOVE YOU" down the hallway when I was in 10th grade. I later married him (but now we're divorced). But that's still one of my favorite high school moments.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My most memorable moment in HS was the day I fell in love with my future husband. We had been dating for a few months and it was late March. We stepped outside the building together after class and I said, "Do you smell that?" and without missing a beat he replied "Spring." I had never found anyone who had answered that questions with anything other than "Huh?" Or "What?" before. That's when I truly fell in love with him.

  38. I remember driving for the first time to school with my little motocycle. When I drove into the garageplace I didn't know anymore how to stop and I was very lucky, that I was not to fast. So I was motoring in front of the wall till I found out how to stop the motor. Oh my, I was so happy, that nobody else was in there just then. I would have felt even more embarassed!

  39. Hmmm... wow, high school. I'll tell you an embarrassing one. I accidentally locked my keys in my car one day so I had to call my dad. He had let my uncle borrow his truck that afternoon so he didn't have a way to come help me. I was standing out by my car when I saw my dad come riding up on my bike with the extra key! Mortifying! And then he refused to let me put it in the back and drive him home. He just rode it home, and my dad is not the bike rider type! I could have died!

  53. My most memorable high school experience hands down was being elected homecoming queen when I was a senior. I stood in the art room as the maid's names were announced, and when my name wasn't I turned to go back to what I was doing. When the queen's name was announced, it was mine! I was flabbergasted. What an honor! I'll never forget that moment as long as I live.

I was the school mascot, a panther. One football game, I got into a rough and tumble with the opposing team's six foot tall trojan. (I am just over 5 feet.) It must have been a sight from the stands, because I sure couldn't see through the 6 inch wide mesh-covered mouth.

  66. Freshman year. Camping with 2 male friends and a pit-bull. They set up the tent and said they had to go back to the house to get the sleeping bags because they forgot them. They left me in the woods with their pitbull and a very large ax. They scared me when they came back with the sleeping bags. Later that night while they were sleeping it started to rain. I cut slits in the tent and took their dog home with me for the night. They were soaked in the morning. They called me to bring back their truck and dog lol

(I have since realized that I should leave entertaining to someone else!)

  84. I have a couple favorite memories from HS.
One was when I was taking calculus. There was a lot of 'stuff' going on at home at that time, so my head wasn't always 'there'. One week I got a 3 on my test & the very next test my grade was so high it threw off the curve! I remember Mr. Kohl handing my paper back, shaking his head & saying "You never cease to amaze me." LOL
The other was after I had gotten my driver's license & had the use of my Dad's Pinto one day, and with my BFF in the car, I drove down the hallways of the school!

  85. On the Jr. Prom I was slow dancing with my then boyfriend and we kissed. No big deal right? Well in my senior year when the year book came out guess who's picture had a whole page by it self?
That's right me kissing Robert for all the world to see!

  86. My most memorable moment in HS? To be honest, I can't remember much as I blacked most of my school days out. I would have to say that it's when Biology teacher specifically spoke to me personally in class and noticed a few things about me. He said that I was consistent grade-wise and that in itself made me an anomaly. I had to get him to explain. He basically said that most students will make a high grade on one test and and low on the next and then bounce back up. Me? I was a flat lined C. And then, he told me that he expected to see Bs out of me from now on. Because he noticed me and I was impressed, I made Bs. Consistently. He exclaimed to me in frustration one day after handing a test back to me that I better make an A. What did I do? I made As from then on. LOL. I'll never forget that teacher. I wasn't invisible to him.

  89. Graduation night was my most memorable time in high school. I graduated in 1976, Bi-centennial year. We wore red, white, and blue gowns. I got to wear white because I was an honor student. 91. I was president of the French Club, and we were trying to raise funds by selling candy that nobody wanted to buy. I hated approaching my friends and asking, "Do you want to buy a Poo-paw?" One day I arrived at school and saw firetrucks parked near the office. A guy from my neighborhood had broken in and set a fire that damaged only the office area. I later learned from my French teacher that she locked up the club's boxes of yet-to-be sold candy in the office each afternoon. I hated that a student had tried to burn down my school, but I was thrilled to learn that the insurance company had reimbursed the French Club for the lost candy! Not my most special memory, but I will never forget trying to sell candy called Poo-paws!

  98. Oh my gosh, I LOVE these fabrics. Oh boy, I better pick a good story....
Do I have to choose high school? How about the year after high school. When I ran over my own finger with my own car? I mean how can you beat that? My car was a manual and old and rickety. If you turned it off, then you had to let it cool before starting it again. The emergency brake was hit and miss too, so I put a rock under the tire. (That's what my dad said to do. So I did.) One day I had to go pick up my little brother from school. I went to go place that rock and the car rolled, then skidded with my finger between the rock and the pavement. I then grabbed the open door and was holding it, screaming as the car pulled me along in my high heels...me trying to stop it. I didn't. It hit another car, then stopped. I had to go to the ER. And my dad finally let me fix the emergency brake.

  113. Ok, I went to school quite a while ago and some classrooms still had the desks with the chairs attached! Our French teacher was quite old and used to write a lot of the blackboard. I was sitting with my friend Sharyn in the row by the door...Billy was on the opposite side of the room in the row by the windows. He decided to come visit us with his desk/chair, of course. On his way back to his row by the windows-he was in the last row at the back of the room-the teacher turned around. "Billy E. how many times have I told you NOT to sit in the back of the room!"

  118. I went to 3 different high schools so it seemed like I was always starting over. The first was an all-girl parochial HS where we spent the better portion of our time hiking up our skirts and trying to decide if Sister "Earth Science" (we never called her by her given name) was crazy or just like to tell tall tales. (Come on, it takes more than dirt under your finger nails to make seeds grown. Right? Ha!)

Next was a public HS and that's where I discovered {gasp} BOYS!

But the most memorable was my last HS when we moved to small town GA from metro Chicago. We yankees were a new phenomenon to this itty bitty town. And hearing that I came from Chicago these kids apparently believed every stereotype portrayed on TV. They asked me if I carried a knife or a gun (assuming it must have been one or the other); whether or not I ever killed anyone; what the name of my gang was; why I talked so funny and said dumb things like "pop" for soda, "restroom" for bathroom.

Now that was a lifetime ago!

  124. A not too good memorable moment...when my phys ed teacher called on me to be on my back on the exercise mat while she demonstrated a technique. I had to raise my legs with bent knees and she had to grab my ankles. Unfortunately, my mom hadn't shared with me about shaving my legs, and the teacher had to grab two hairy legs to demonstrate in front of the whole class. I was sooo embarrassed because I heard snickers! I still remember it to this day, and that was almost 45 years ago!

  128. When I think about high school, I remember my first day, as a freshman, when I sat down in Latin class and discovered that my teacher was Hispanic. A nervous girl, prone to blushing, I spent the entire class worrying that I had misunderstood and enrolled in a class about Latin America instead of Latin class. (It turned out fine. I learned Latin from a woman with a Spanish accent.)

  129. My homeroom teacher's birthday was on April 1st. My mom helped me frost a Tupperware cake holder that was turned upside down and drove me to school that day. My teacher had a good laugh when she tried to cut her special "cake" with a knife and found that it was plastic instead of real.

  142. ONE moment from high school? There were so many! Getting my Chemistry Teacher fired for incompetence, traveling half way across the country and all the way to Greece with other Latin students (geek, right?!), graduating valedictorian and writing an awesome speech, meeting my now-husband. It was a great time.

Anyways at least both were brown but one was a platform and one was flat so I limped around all day. When there was a class change I hobbled out and would go down the hall as everyone laughed...my worse day...EVER! Even the teachers were snickering...they even talk about it at reunions!! :o)haha What else are you going to do..but laugh!!

  165. Let's see, my next high school reunion will be my 50th, which doesn't seem possible. I don't think I had much in the way of memorable moments in h. s., maybe because I was studious and shy, but I was excited to make the Honor Society and pleased to be the time keeper for the cross country team in our new, small town school.

  168. Most memorable HS moment... I have two...

First, I lost my pants in front of ~2,000 people!!

Long story short, there was a costume mixup and my pants fell off while I was on stage. There I stood in my red bikini type undies (I only wore those when I was dancing) while the audience cracked up. My mother chastised me slightly for not warning her about my "funny moment". Apparently the audience thought it was a planned thing and was meant to be funny. Then she laughed even more when I told her it was a complete accident.

My second most memorable moment also happened on stage. I had to play a dead soldier, and I was "dead" for 2 minutes 12 seconds. I worked and worked for weeks learning to dance like crazy for 5 minutes, then hit the deck and lay completely motionless with my eyes open for 2.5 minutes. Opening night, I hit the stage and I laid there with my open and "not breathing". I heard a woman in the front front row (only 4 feet from the stage) tell her husband, "Honey, I think he's really hurt, he's not breathing." In my head I was cheering for myself, until I heard her say, "And there's blood next to his head." That's when I freaked out a little bit, but I remained "in character" and "dead". Her husband responded that I was using a blood pack as he hushed his wife. I wasn't using a blood pack. It turns out I had split the back of my head open a little bit.

We were able to butterfly stitch it and stop the bleeding during intermission and I danced the second half of the show.

I loved HS, I could go on and on.... Lots of good memories.

Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  174. I don't know if this is my MOST memorable high school moment as there were quite a few things that happened, but I was a cheerleader all 4 years, and my sophomore year my squad picked me to be co-captain. I was really excited because I wasn't the girl who ran with all the other cheerleaders and I thought I would never get picked since it was like a popularity contest. Some of the girls told me later that they had picked me because of all my great routine ideas and the way I coordinate everything very well. Also, because I was one of the most dedicated girls on the team, never missing a practice, game, or meeting. That made me super happy because I was chosen on merit and not popularity. :)
