New Craftsy Online Quilting Class - Mastering Foundation Paper Piecing

I just LOVE Craftsy!  I have taken several of their classes and would highly recommend them to anyone.  I love how I can watch the lessons over and over, that I can ask the instructor questions & that my access never expires.  Craftsy has revolutionized how we take sewing/quilting classes!  Click either image to learn more about Craftsy or the class.

If you make something look simple, it's for me.  The intro video for this class says that 4 different quilt blocks will be done in the class.  Carol seems to be funny too.  When the instructors are funny it makes the classes more fun.

Paper-piecing expert Carol Doak teaches you how to get sharp points and precise seams as she takes you step by step through four foundation-based quilt projects.

What You'll Learn
  • Foundation paper basics
  • Tips on organizing fabric
  • Properly trim and join your pieces
  • Troubleshoot piecing mistakes

7 Simple Quilt Blocks & Projects Using Circle Rulers + 6 Applique Tips + 1 Free Quilt Pattern

The YouTube Channel for Riley Blake Designs just uploaded a really great video.  It shows 7 projects with fabric circles, how to make half circle scallops for quilt edges, several applique tips, etc.

In this video, plastic circle rulers/templates are used but you can use other circles like plates or use the Olfa circle cutter that cuts many different sizes of circles.

APPLIQUE TIPS:
TIP #1 (3:10) - Sew non-fusible interfacing to the pretty side of the fabric all the way around, (5:10) cut a slit through the interfacing, turn the circle right side out, gently push out the seams to make a perfect circle, press, then machine or hand applique.
TIP #2 (4:09) - Trim circles using pinking shears so that the edges curve easier.
TIP #3 (5:00) - For small blocks, if you don't have enough interfacing, use a dryer sheet!  I would have never thought of that!
TIP #4 (11:33)- For turn applique, use a cardboard template 1/4"+ smaller than your cut shape, spray starch your fabric, iron your fabric around the template, let cool, then pop the cardboard out.  Fabric piece is ready to machine or hand applique.
TIP #5 (15:53 & 19:35) -  Cut out the bottom layer behind the appliqued piece and use that fabric for another project.
TIP #6 (17:27) - How to cut our circles with your rotary cutter!  I've never seen this before.

THESE TIPS CAN BE USED FOR OTHER SHAPES AS WELL!

What Does the Easter Bunny Eat? - Fabric Carrots!

Easter is right around the corner and this is a great project that is super simple and uses up your scraps.  This project is brought to us by our lovely & funny Jenny of Missouri Star Quilt Company's YouTube Channel

My twin thought this would be a cute project for Catnip Toys and made in larger sizes for Accent Pillows & a Table Centerpiece.
